Color Room

At Backhausen, I contributed to an ambitious installation designed by Stefan Sagmeister and Jessica Walsh for the Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna. The project involved creating 200 meters of luxurious fabric featuring 13 vibrant, modern patterns by the designers, which transformed a previously plain basement into the immersive “Color Room.” The textiles’ rich colors and textures were carefully developed to interact with sodium discharge lamp lighting, revealing a dynamic glow that shifted the space from a dull grey to a vivid, polychrome environment. This project demonstrated how material quality and graphic design can combine to enhance a spatial experience.
