“Entering Bioluminescence” is a project that looks at how forms, colours and light could be interpreted from a non-human perspective. Focusing on the twilight zone around 1000m deep below the water surface, the project looks at how small fish perceive bioluminescent predators. Formal qualities of bioluminescent predators were translated into graphic animations, which were then projected into water and filmed from underwater. The project culminated in an immersive installation that the audience entered one by one. The installation encouraged the audience to look up once within the structure to look at the animations projected onto the ceiling, which resembled deep sea fish species that use sunlight entering from above the surface as a means of orientation.
